The Build Mode Bug? What's
that?
It doesn't happen to everyone, but some people find that all of a sudden their build
mode objects take on a whole new life of their own - stairs turning into windows,
fireplaces into plants etc.
To those it affects, it seems to happen when they have more than 100+ downloaded
objects in total build mode categories. Having LL and/or HP or HD does not affect
this; it seems to either happen or not. Some have reported that the HD patch made
their problem go away, but others, sadly, have not been so lucky.
There IS an easy way to rectify this problem though.
You will need:
- The Transmogrifier (TMog) program
- Your computer
- A mouse
- To read the following instructions without panicking.
Firstly: DON'T LET THE WORD "TMog" put you off. I am a complete and utter computer
wuss, and so if I can do it, so can you.
You can change the mode in TMog so that any build mode objects will show up in Buy
mode instead. It's not recommended for columns as they won't support more than one
square anymore (haven't tried stairs), but I find that if I use it for my plants,
doors, fireplaces & windows, then all is safe in my game, and there is plenty of room
left in build mode for all your new goodies.
- Click on the object you wish to change in TMog.
- Click the EDIT DEFINITION button.
- Go to BUILD MODE TYPE and switch it to "None".
- Go to ROOM FLAGS and switch it to the room you want (I suggest "Outside" for
plants and "Misc" for everything else).
Close TMog and you're done. Hurrah!
If you also edit the FUNCTION flags and choose "general", the downloaded plants show
up in buy mode without having to press F2.
Some gameplay notes:
If you sell your house, the windows & doors will disappear along with all the
furniture. When your sim buys the house, you will get a black line where the
door/window should be, and you will have to delete and rebuild the wall segment.
There is an unexpected bonus of your now being able to sell your plants back for hard
cash - unlike build mode plants. But, if you sell your house, the plants will disappear
along with all the furniture. However, the money (minus the set depreciation value) for
them would be added to your total assets unlike build mode plants.
Installing multiple items from buy mode is easier if you press SHIFT key when selecting
& placing an item.
You will find you can't delete the window / door by using the usual method. However, if
you select the plain wall option in build mode and WITHOUT PRESSING CONTROL just run the
wall past the window / door as if you were building a NEW wall along the exact path of
the existing wall. As if by magic the window / door will disappear, you will get your
money back, and you will not even have to rewallpaper your wall either.
(thanks to P8NTMSTRG & TSEBlade - bless you my dears).

All the downloads on this site is made with self-extracting exe.files, this mean that you
do not need a zip - program to unzip them.
OBS! For å unngå mailer fra engelske brukere har jeg benyttet 'Program Files' i
self-extracting linken, bytt det ut med 'Programfiler' før du klikker ok så legger objektet
som du har lastet ned seg i riktig folder. :)
Please do not take any of the downloads and put on another site.
